Most of you will recognize the above image as “Johnny” –the hero of the Johnny Torture Series, which I began in 2001. Although this image is a new photomanipulation, not surprisingly, Johnny appears about the same as he did twenty years ago. The same cannot be said of the photomanipulator.
The years have caught up with me. Plain and simple. That, and pressing personal issues, force me, very reluctantly, to announce today, I am no longer able to administer the Bunker Site.
Actually, I had fully intended to make this announcement after I finished “Terrence and the Penitential Monks of Saint Sebastian” in 2016. But, that was when Chained Muscle folded, and I felt, psychologically, the timing wasn’t right. Other things kept coming up … and then Covid.
And here we are … five years later! It’s time.
Except for a brief period several years ago, when I switched to the Bunker format, I have been doing this, daily, for the past twenty years. Going from E-Groups to Yahoo Groups, to (briefly) Chained Muscle, again to Yahoo Groups, to Word Press. Many of you have been fellow travelers this entire journey.
But, all things have to come to an end. … And here we are. It’s time.
But, what happens to the Bunker?
Originally, the “Aquadude” Bunker came about from requests for a site to display my work. The Header and Order of Contents section reflects that. But, very soon I made the decision to open it up to others. And have been so grateful I did. There are too many names to single out, but the Bunker has been blessed with such great artists and writers. BTW, all Bunker art and stories are the sole property of the artist or writer who produced them.
Which is why picking a new administrator can be problematic. Given the nature of the site’s fantasy, without parameters in place, it could easily delve into darker areas most of the present Bunker artists and writers, including myself, wouldn’t want their work presented side by side with. Nor would they want someone else to profit from their work, should that person try to turn it into a pay site. Those are the pitfalls.
But, the bright side is, fresh ideas and improvements are always welcome to any site, and a new moderator can be such a boom in bringing this about. The question now is, how to get a new administration in place? And as of now, I don’t have that answer. Suggestions?
In the meantime, there are so many fine things on the site, right now, that so many of us enjoy, and enjoy revisiting, again and again. That needs to be addressed immediately.
So, starting today…
The Bunker will remain open – but as a visiting library. No new posts for now. However, the Saturday “Group Sharing” will continue, and also serve as a venue for any updates on the Site. Comments can still be made on any artwork or stories you may visit. And are very much encouraged.
Regarding this page, please leave any comments and/or suggestions you might have by clicking the thought bubble in the upper right corner.
Guys, my heartfelt thanks to everyone of you who have shared this hero-in-distress fantasy with myself and with each other these past years … and, above all, for your fellowship.
PS: Over the next several days I will attempt to consolidate some things in the Contents area to make browsing easier. Don’t forget there is a great search engine in the lower right of the main page header.
