The Two Hundredth and Seventy Third of One Thousand and One Nights – by Amalaric

Jake and Carl Sanders were blood brothers only a year and a half apart in age and, well, as one might expect, nearly inseparable. So, it was often the case that when one fucked up the other was almost certain to be nearby and into the same kind of thing.

Though predictable, their punishment, taken together, was no laughing matter. Both young men were ordered to strip and face a wall. Jake, however, couldn’t help but feel a certain irrational resentment toward his elder brother, as Carl, precisely because he was the eldest, always took the first beating. Jake had to listen, quivering with fear, as the sound of hungry leather against raw, naked flesh and the groans and, finally, screams of agony filled the narrow confines of the punishment room. Soon enough it would be Jake’s turn but by that time, almost nauseous with fear, he felt as if he had to endure his punishment twice.

  1. Jake is absolutely right. The fear of knowing what’s going to happen is almost the worst. A short text that leaves the reader disturbed, and unfortunately does not reveal, what the two boys are being punished for. And it’s kind of astonishing that Jake stands in his corner, without any chains.
